DHS Band wins Sweepstakes three times in a row

March 3rd the Varsity Devine HS Symphonic Winds earned 1st Division ratings at the UIL Region 11 Concert & Sight-Reading Evaluation at Pleasanton High School.
By earning a 1st Division in both Concert & Sight-Reading, the Devine Warhorse Band has now earned a UIL Sweepstakes Award for 2021-2022!!
The Sweepstakes Award for High School requires 1st Division ratings in Marching Band in the fall semester, and then also during Concert & Sight-Reading. This is the third consecutive time that the Warhorse Band has received this award that the band has been able to participate in all (3) levels.
There were many great comments from the UIL judges regarding our very challenging program for this year. These comments included:
• “A well rehearsed and performing band!!”
• “Band plays with lots of energy and musical understanding!”
• “A fun performance!!”
• “Thank you for sharing the Music!!”
“This accomplishment has provided yet another sign that our kids are strong and enthusiastic about being successful young adults!! Thank you to all our teachers, administration, and staff for continuing to support our students who engage in the Fine Arts!”, said Jeff W. Miller, BME, MM, Director of Bands for DISD.
