Devine ISD $13.9 million bond fails as 72% vote against

Devine ISD’s $13.9 million bond failed with approximately 72% (485) voting against the bond and 28% (193) voting for it, out of a total of 678 ballots cast.
Bond Election breakdown:
FOR – Early Voting 120, election day 73 = 193 total FOR.
Against- 309 Early votes, 176 election day = 485 total AGAINST.
Davis and Frieda win seats
Chris Davis and Renee Frieda were elected to at-large positions on the DISD Board. Unofficial counts on election night showed Davis received 390 votes, and Frieda received 334. Adam Hackebeil received 255 votes.
Current Board member Carl Brown ran unopposed and was reelected with 47 votes.
Official canvassing of the DISD votes will be later next week. “We are rescheduling the canvass to the week of the 13th. Since we had such a large turnout, the city won’t have my materials ready by Tuesday. We will still be having the called meeting though with just closed session. Once the canvass is rescheduled, I will let you know”, said Geri Woods, DISD Superintendent’s Secretary.
