Devine Braves headed to Pony World Series

The Devine Braves 8U baseball team traveled to Universal City to compete in the 2018 South Zone Baseball Regional tournament and returned home with 1st place medals. They began their four-day tournament on Friday, June 22 with a 16-3 win over the Pearsall Arsenal before beating the San Antonio Rockets 19-1 and Edgewood Missions 13-1. In their final game on Sunday, they beat the Pearsall Arsenal 13-6.
This team is made up of 7 and 8 year olds who have played together the last 3 years, coming up just short of the World Series. These young boys aren’t your normal diamond baseball team lucky enough to practice on nice baseball fields – guess you could call them the “Backyard Sandlot Kids.”
The Devine Braves will travel to Youngsville, LA July 11-15 to play four Pool Games from Wednesday through Friday, with final bracket games continuing Saturday and Sunday. The team would like to thank the support of their parents and families, along with their coaches and sponsors to help with expenses. A special thanks to Devine Braves World Series sponsors EJ’s Drive Thru in Devine, and Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Head.
