Devine Airport awarded nearly $600k in grants

TxDoT Aviation awarded the Devine Municipal Airport $549,000 in grant monies for electrical improvements at the airport as part of the Aviation Capital Improvement Program (ACIP).
Interim City Administrator Dora Rodriguez said the City plans to use the grant to redo lighting for the airport’s runway and beacon.
The ACIP is a three-year schedule of federal and state airport development projects that aim to address airport safety, the preservation of existing facilities, response to current needs, and provisions for anticipated needs. ACIP grants normally require a 10 percent match, but Rodriguez said that in this instance the City would not have to provide those funds.
Earlier this year, the City also received a $20,000 grant as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
