Debra Darlene Downing Weathers

Debra Darlene Downing Weathers

Debra Darlene Downing Weathers passed away February 9, 2020 due to incredibly difficult events related to Lupus Nephites. Her determination was strong, but her body was weak and now she has been released from the battle.
She was born in Austin, Texas on October 9, 1953 to Doug Downing and Nancy Reese Downing. After Nancy passed away Doug married Mary Ann (Jones) Downing. Debbie was raised in Devine, Texas where she liked hanging out with friends and dancing to music. She was Miss Devine in ’69 (really it was 1971, but she liked the rhyme). She was faithful to care for her family and sad to lose so many so young.
In 1984 she married Sam Weathers and was thrilled to be “mom” to Stephanie and Missy. She later bought her own home by the river in Bandera TX (reminiscent of the “old” days at Hippie Hollow). Happy to call Bandera home, where she made many lifelong friends.
Debra’s fun and loving spirit showed in all she did. She enjoyed spending time in Devine with her brother’s big family and friends. She also loved to travel and felt blessed to visit her nephew Austin in North Carolina just before her many days in and out of the hospital. One thing you could count on was every 8 to 10 weeks a trip to Austin to get a haircut, visit with her girls and have lunch with her cousin.
A few more of her favorite things: Big Red, frogs, the mountains, Elvis, Westerns, the lake and Rockabilly Music.
She is preceded in death by her parents (mentioned above), her sister Sheri, her brother Byron, and her sister-in-law Rhonda.
She is survived by her daughters; Stephanie Chastine (husband David) and their children Jacob (wife Sydney), Madison and Nathan.Melissa Weathers and her son Dylan. Her brother Mark Downing (wife Theresa). Nieces and nephews; Jamie DelBosque, Julie Bean, Christopher Downing, Nicole LaFond (husband Chris), Douglas Downing (wife Jacee), Samuel Reichel (wife Crystal) and Austin Downing of Asheville, NC. Great nieces and nephews: Tyler Phillips (wife Lindsey), Trent Hermis; Wyatt, Trystan, Colt and Richard LaFond; Milee, Luke and Kyle Downing; Michael and Josie Reichel.
Memorial Service will be held at noon on March 7, 2020 atFirst United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Devine Texas.
