Members of Current Events Club, (l to r) Martha Wall, Kay Shutz, Linda Cole and Robert Stanton, and an employee delivering Valentine remembrances to residents at the Devine Health and Rehabilitation Center.

The Current Events Club met in the home of Dinah Argo on Tuesday, March 17. Cathy Mechler was the co-hostess. We enjoyed a nice social time while enjoying their wonderful finger foods and desserts. There were no reports from the Scholarship or Membership Committees. Laura Sinclair and Linda Kreinhop gave a report from the Courtesy Committee. Linda Kreinhop gave a report for the Fundraising Committee which centered around the status of ticket and raffle sales for the “Mardi Gras Charity Gala” being held at the George S. Woods Community Center on February 22nd. Due to generous donations and gifts from area merchants, individual and members, the club as received some great items. See gala details in Devine News ad or contact Sarah McAlpin, 830-663-9282 or Linda Kreinhop, 830-665-6377 for details. Last chance to purchase raffle tickets for the 65” Samsung TV, $400.00 gift card, Michael Kors handbag, and a Campbell Hausfeld air compressor with the exception at the gala, will be at Triple C on Wednesday, February 19.
Kay Shultz reported on the status of the theater outing. Members and guests are planning on attending the musical “Bright Star” at The Public Theater, San Antonio on Sunday, April 19th. If you are interested in attending, contact Kay Shultz, 210-213-4802
After business discussions concluded, members began preparing Valentine remembrance gifts for residents of The Devine Health and Rehabilitation Center. It took us a little while to get our assembly line going which created much laughter. We attached Valentine cards with a special message and filled their Valentine bags with Kleenex, crackers and candies – finishing the bags with curling ribbon. Kay Shultz, Martha Wall and Linda Cole delivered the bags. See photo.
Our next meeting is in the home of Laura Sinclair on March 17. The program will be on robotics as well as finalizing plans for the ice cream social for graduating seniors. Come and join us.
