Col. John Michael Holds

Col. John Michael Holds, USAF retired, was born July 2, 1931 in Battle Creek, Michigan and passed away June 4, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 86. He was one of three sons born to John C. and Genevieve Smith Holds.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Sally Ann Harrison Holds.
Survivors include his sons, Andrew Michael Holds of Northampton, England and John Bryan Holds, M.D. and wife Sophia of Clayton, Missouri; grandchildren, John Harrison Holds, Audrey Gillian Holds, Harrison Andrew Holds and Kieran Michael Holds; brothers, Capt. James H. Holds and his wife Alice of Sarasota, Florida and Thomas Eugene Holds of Battle Creek, Michigan.
Col. Holds was a member of the American Legion, Reserve Officers Association, Masons and the NRA. John married Sally Ann Harrison on December 19, 1953 in Pontiac, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed during Korea in the Far East where his wife, Sally, was able to join him and taught school at the Army Education Center. After leaving active duty, Col. Holds was a reserve officer and field representative for Detroit Diesel Allison Division of General Motors. John and his wife, Sally, also had a great love of their rescued greyhounds.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Graveside Service with Full Military Honors will be Monday, July 2, 2018 at 10:00 am at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to either the Sally Holds Scholarship Fund at St. Labre Indian School, P.O. Box 97, Ashland, Montana 59009 or to St. Louis Catholic School, 607 Madrid, Castroville, Texas 78009.
