City of Devine asks businesses, churches to require masks

June 26, 2020

The City of Devine has been closely monitoring the recent developments of COVID-19. It appears that the infection rate has steadily increased throughout the state.

We are asking all business partners and places of worship to require and enforce all employees and patrons to wear face masks/coverings.

As of June 26, 2020, Governor Abbott has issued an executive order that bars and similar establishments that are 51% or more of alcohol sales are required to be closed at noon. They may remain open for delivery. Curbside and take-out restaurants must scale back to 50% operating capacity, a decrease from the previously established 75% capacity.

All businesses shall use best industry standards to limit the number of patrons allowed on their premises in order to maintain social distancing. Citizens are encouraged to patronize local businesses while maintaining social distancing. In the event that social distancing cannot be maintained, more restrictive measures may be enforced by Council to include adopting an ordinance with penalties.
