A Kidney for Christmas?

A young mother with failing health is hoping for a second chance, hoping that a living kidney donor comes through soon. You might have seen signs around town with her and her baby boy. Karina Garcia, 21 of Devine is the mother of a 3 year old, Brayden Guardiola.
“I just want to be here for my baby, 100 percent,” Garcia said in an interview Monday.

Damage devastating, support overwhelming Lane family says

Schottzy’s 1 year anniversary celebration was bittersweet to say the least, after a driver crashed into the coffee shop just a couple days before the celebration

LaCoste and surrounding communities have come together this week to help the Lane family and staff at Schottzy’s. Just as Schottzy’s Kaffeehaus was getting ready to celebrate its one year anniversary, tragedy struck. A driver veered off the road at on Castro Avenue in LaCoste striking the popular coffee shop around 11 pm this past Thursday, December 7.

Inflation may slam brakes on Devine water improvement project

Inflation has driven costs skyward to the point that Devine’s $9.9 million water distribution improvement project is now strapped for funds to complete anything beyond the first of three proposed phases, city engineer Raul Garcia Jr. reported to the city council.
“The amount of money budgeted back in 2016-2017 is just not going to get you very far post-COVID,” Garcia said.

A special experience at the “Empty Cross” at Kerrville

This 77 ft tall cross sculpture tops a beautiful hill and prayer garden along the highway in Kerrville and is the site of many miraculous events.

I finally got a chance to visit “the cross at Kerrville.” Despite its awesomeness, I only heard of it a couple months ago. This 77 ft tall cross sculpture tops a beautiful hill and prayer garden along the highway in Kerrville and is the site of many miraculous events.
While I did not personally get adorned by the miraculous “golden dust” that so many have experienced at the cross, I did have a special experience on that hill.
Local man, Tim Dimmick of Devine, did report leaving that hill with “golden dust” on his shoulder. It was his words that first inspired me to go to the cross.

Sheriff gives report on use of Golf Course Water

Medina County Sheriff Randy Brown urged the Devine City Council at the November 21 council meeting to review its original management contract with SG Golf Management regarding any issues with water being diverted outside the city golf course for private use.
