Faye Haass

Loving her family and friends, looking for seashells on the seashore, cooking for others, trick-or-treating with her grandbabies, watching their games, celebrating Easter Sunday, the true meaning of Christmas, and of course, a good cup of Coffee….these were some of her favorite things.
Faye Haass,72, was born February 26, 1951 in Audubon, New Jersey to the late Earl Devenney and Lorraine Kitty DuBose. She went to be with the Lord this past Wednesday, August 23, surrounded by family, who loved her so dearly.
Faye was blessed with six beautiful children and 21 beautiful grandchildren whom she couldn’t be more proud of. She was proud of each and every thing they accomplished and told everyone about it.
Faye was a graduate of Devine High School and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education at UTSA while she and her husband Dean raised their children in their home in LaCoste. Throughout her life she enjoyed being a waitress, substitute teacher, sports editor of Devine News, and lastly the hotel hospitality business in San Antonio and Denver, Colorado. She was also a volunteer and former board member with the Medina Valley Youth Baseball Association as well as Hermann Sons Dance in Castroville.
She moved home to help take care of her aging mother and later enjoyed her time as one of the “golden girls” hanging out with her friends and enjoying her grandchildren. She spent a lot of time reading and writing, always learning.
Whenever someone was ill, or had a baby, she was there…washing dishes, folding laundry, and cooking their favorite meals. She had a kind heart, and served God by serving others, always making her loved ones feel special and loved. What could be more special than that?
She wrote a children’s book about friendship called “My Tree” which was published the day before she passed. It is a testament to the kind of thoughtful person and true friend that she was to so many.
Her other true love was the ocean. She loved to sit and watch the waves roll in, feel that ocean breeze, and look for seashells on the sea shore.
The bible teaches us that God’s love is like the ocean, so deep and vast that we cannot ever see it all or understand it completely.
Faye was a dear mother, sister, grandmother, friend, and aunt, and while we wish we could keep her forever, we can imagine now she must be smiling, walking upon the most beautiful seashores of all in Heaven.
Survivors include her children, Tricia Scott (Michael) of Charlotte, Kelli Geyer (Donny) of Castroville, Joshua Haass (Chrissy) of Pearson, Traci Rhea (Kasey) of Pearson, and Ashli Haby (Michael) of Castroville; fifteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Devey Ratliff (Paul), Patrick DuBose (Jan), and Kathleen Calame (Thomas).
Faye was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Dorian Lewis; and her brother, Earl Devenney.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home with the Holy Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. followed by Scripture Reading and Eulogy. Services will conclude at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Faye’s memory to the Medina Valley Youth Baseball Association.
