Bill A. Hawkins was born on January 12, 1946 in McGregor, TX and passed away February 24, 2015 in San Antonio, TX.
Bill joined the United States Marine Corps on May 31, 1966. He served two tours in Vietnam until he was Honorably Discharged on May 28, 1970.
After his time in the service Bill attended college at Texas A&I, where he played on the football team. After graduating, Bill began his teaching and coaching career, where he coached all throughout South Texas for a total of 30 years.
Some his fondest memories were coaching in Natalia and Pearsall.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mildred Hawkins, his sisters Diane Hawkins and Wynonia Montgomery and brother Kenneth Hawkins.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Sylvia Hawkins and sons James Ray and Matthew, and grandchildren Brayden, Brooklyn and Arabella.
Funeral Service for the late Coach Hawkins will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Devine, TX, on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 9 a.m. Rosary will be at 9:30a.m. with a Mass to follow at 10 a.m. Final Resting Place will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery (shelter) on March 7, 2025 at 9:30 a.m.
