Big tree crashes through Felipe’s Tire Shop

Part of another big Oak tree came crashing down last week, landing on Felipe’s Tire Shop in Devine, causing significant damage.
Jesse Hernandez at Felipe’s Tire Shop stated that they are open, operating at about 25% capacity.
“It’s a mess. We are still waiting for the insurance adjuster to show up,” Hernandez said. “We are using a generator because the electricity isn’t even connected right now. Our phone line is down as well, but we are open and we can still repair tires, sell tires, and pretty much everything, we just have limited space. We are just waiting on the insurance adjuster because they are tied up with the hurricane damages.”
Mike Walker said Devine Fire Dept. responded to the call around 10 pm last Monday, August 31.
“A lot of the big trees are giving away lately. We’ve had four come down recently,” Walker said. “The limb that came down on Felipe’s was straight behind the tire shop. The limb was about twenty inches wide, almost two feet. It twisted a lot of the frame and went through the roof in a couple places. It’s a shame to see. Felipe’s Tire Shop does so much to support our community.”
