A benefit plate sale for Louie Perez will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church pavilion from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Plates are $8.00 each and consist of chicken, sausage, rice, beans, potato salad, bread, and a jalapeno, and can be eaten at the pavilion or taken to-go.
Perez was admitted to Citizens Medical Center in Victoria on July 17 for an emergency triple bypass. All five of his arteries were 50 to 100 percent blocked, and he has a long road ahead to recuperate.
Perez’s wife, Angie Silva Perez, has not been able to return to work because she is his only caregiver and transportation to medical appointments. Perez is currently undergoing cardiac therapy three times a week, and medical bills are piling up.
