Devine National Night Out set for Oct. 3rd
The Devine Police Department is hosting “National Night Out” for all area Devine residents on Tuesday, October 3rd from 6 to 9 pm at the Devine Municipal Golf Course.
There will be live music by the Solis Brothers as well as free food and drinks! Other food items will be available for purchase. There will also be free entertainment for the kids.

In 1929, at the height of the Roaring 20s, with the nation in an upswing of prosperity, Devine’s new $40,000 modernized school was built on College Avenue! Not only did it have a modern, art-deco look; it was fitted, for the first time, with heating, plumbing, and electricity! That was a far cry from what many of the students had in their homes at the time; so this was a very big improvement for the students of Devine ISD.

JV Horses pluck Owls 20-14

After falling behind 6-0, the JV Horses came back to defeat the Hondo Owls 20-14 last Thursday in Devine. Coach Lon Cozby loves the way his team is putting it together as the season rolls along.

In three exciting sets, the JV Arabian volleyball team downed Pleasanton in three sets 25-21, 19-25, 17-15. The JV Arabians played a non-district match against San Antonio FEAST last night before taking on Somerset and Pearsall Friday and Tuesday respectively.

The Devine Filly 8th grade volleyball A-team played against Pearsall to win an exciting game improving their district record to 3-1, and 5-2 for the season. The Fillys beat the Pearsall Dogies playing 3 sets to win 25-15, then losing 26-28, and then claiming their victory in the third game, 25-19. Coach Julie Oropeza said, “This game was certainly not our best, but these girls weathered the storm and came through with the win.

A “sonic boom” that rattled windows in Medina County last Saturday, September 9 certainly turned some heads. According to Hondo PD Chief Justin Soza, they believe it was a military F-15 that caused the ruckus.

SA Bomb squad called into investigate….object found at local home, a false alarm
Last Tuesday, the SA Bomb Squad was called to assist with a case in Hondo after detectives found “a piece of an electronic accelerator detonator” at a residence in town.
