Atascosa, Frio Counties COVID-19 cases increase

Confirmed COVID-19 cases in Atascosa County and Frio County continued to rise in the face of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

According to data provided by the Department of State Health Services (DSHS), Atascosa County has 35 COVID-19 cases, an increase of eight since May 18. Seventeen of those cases are active, and the county has also had two deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Frio County had a smaller bump, up to 37 confirmed cases from 35 on May 18. According to press releases on the Frio County Facebook page, the 36th case was a result of close contact associated with a COVID-19 outbreak at a Medina Valley nursing home, while the 37th patient is a detainee at the ICE facility in Pearsall.
