In the district opener against Lytle, the Arabians won 47-26. The Arabians defense held Lytle to less than 10 points a quarter. Leading by only one at the end of their first quarter, they outscored Lytle 12-4 in the second quarter making their lead 19-10. The third quarter is when the offense really kicked it into high gear scoring 18 points and 10 points in the fourth. Controlling the ball and maintaining a strong defense pressure is what led to this important first district win.
Preslee Quisenberry led the scoring with 16 points and Lily Stricker dominated under the basket with 10 rebounds and 2 points. Chesney Friesenhahn had 11 points 4 rebounds, Abby Whitaker 9 points 5 rebounds, Sierra Pompa 6 points 6 rebounds, Alissa Stehle 2 points 4 rebounds, Clarissa Zamora 1 point 1 rebound and Maddie Mata 3 rebounds.
January 2nd, the Arabians lost to Falls City 38-43. It was a tough game and the Arabians played hard defense causing 22 turnovers with 13 steals.
Friesenhahn scored 12 points and 6 rebounds, Quisenberry 12 points 3 rebounds, Pompa 4 points 9 rebounds, Whitaker 6 points 3 rebounds, Zamora 5 rebounds, Saily Zetino 2 points 1 rebound, and Stehle had 2 points.
The Varsity Arabians record is 19-6. District play continues in Crystal City January 12th and at home against Pearsall on January 16th.
