Arabians take down two more

Keeping their seat at the top of the district, the Arabians have added two more wins to their undefeated district season. Beating Brooks Academy and Fox Tech last week, Devine is now 6-0 and Somerset is close behind at 4-1. Devine played in Somerset last night and has a bye this Friday. Tuesday they will host Young Women’s Leadership Academy at home in their final district game.
When Devine faced Brooks Academy on January 25th, it was a completely one-sided game with Devine winning 72-7. The Arabian defense was on point and allowed 5 points in the first quarter and then only 2 points in the third. “The girls did a good job of playing with pace and intensity vs Brooks Academy. We came out and did a good job of establishing some pressure on defense. We were able to force Brooks Academy to play at a fast pace and that was a benefit for us. We did a good job of forcing turnovers and converting those turnovers to easy points. We also did a great job of playing in transition,” said Coach Jim Sessions.
The Arabians honored Senior Macey Hein after the Brooks Academy game on January 25th for scoring her 1200th career point. “This is an awesome accomplishment as she did this in 3 years since she was unable to play last year due to her knee injury. I am very proud of the year Macey has put together. She worked hard in the off-season to rehab her knee and get back on the court for summer ball. Hein has really done a great job for us this season and she has really taken up a leadership role for us this year and has embraced it. I am proud to honor her for this impressive accomplishment,” said Coach Sessions.

Winning the first quarter 22-2, the Arabians set their pace for the game. “Their intensity was outstanding, and they took care of business early in this game. We played at a fast pace and the girls did a great job of moving the ball and finding good shots vs Fox Tech’s zone defenses.
