Arabian golf swings into action at Devine Golf Course; Emily Faubel 2nd place medalist

The Devine Arabian golf team shook the dust off their clubs at got to work at Devine Golf Course last Tuesday morning. Devine placed third as a team scoring 442 points to finish behind team champion Uvalde who shot a 412 and Floresville who posted a 422.
Arabian newcomer Emily Faubel shot a 78 to capture the 2nd place medalist spot. Hondo veteran golfer Mallory Matthews was even par with a 72 to win first medalist while Uvalde’s Sofia White shot an 87 to win third medalist.
“Since this was first tournament of the year I expect the scores to drop one we get a few more tournaments under our belts,” said Arabian coach Mark Mangold. “We will continue to work on our swings and improve our consistency.”
Devine was eight golfers strong going into their first meet of the 2021 season. Aside from Faubel’s 78, Sidney Weyel shot a personal best 112 while newcomer Raynee Allen and returner Elena Meeks each posted a 126.
Cali Gierisch (130), Mia Ramirez (134), Lindsey Herrera (137), and Makayla Perez (143) rounded out the scoring for the Arabian.
