“Crazy”, “Walking After Midnight”, “I Fall to Pieces” are some of the favorites of Patsy Cline by her name sake band to be performed at the Devine Area Artists’ Series’ concert on Saturday, December 14. Also, favorite songs of musicians such as Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, Anne Murray, Asleep at the Wheel, The Shirelles, Marty Robbins, Bob Wills, and Bing Crosby will be performed. Dave Kemp, the newest member of the group who is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, will be featured on banjo in “Foggy Mountain Breakdown.”
Dave Kemp joins the two women who originated the Almost Patsy Cline Band, Lanette Pennell, bass guitar and vocals, and Vicki Gillespie, keyboards and vocals. Their three part harmonies are “magical”!
The group will include some Christmas favorites to celebrate the season. College musicians from UTSA will also perform Christmas selections before the concert and during the intermission. Also, during the intermission, cookies, punch and coffee will be served. There will be a drawing for door prizes, too!
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of DAAS, memorabilia from the past will be on display. The Series had its first organizational meeting in April 1989. The 1989-1990 season featured: The Fiesta City Singers; harpist, Louise Trotter; Shakespearian actor, Marc Weishaus; and pianist, Laura Spitzer.

Single tickets at the door for the concerts are $10. Students through grade 12 are admitted free if accompanied by an adult. Season tickets for the DAAS concerts may still be purchased for $25 at the concert. The San Antonio show band, Colao will perform on February 8, 2020. The last concert will be the popular Haywire Bluegrass Band on March 28th.
