Alfred Joseph (A.J. or Al) Bourquin, Jr.

Alfred Joseph (A.J. or Al) Bourquin, Jr., of Mico, passed away on August 11, 2017 from complications of Lewy Body Dementia. A.J. was born October 2, 1939, in Castroville, Texas to Alfred Bourquin, Sr. and Pearl Tondre Bourquin. He grew up on the family farm in Rio Medina, Texas and attended St. Louis Catholic School. Upon his graduation from high school in 1957, he attended business college and then joined the Army. Later he went to work for the National Cash Register Company until his retirement in 2000. A.J. had many hobbies, but by far, his favorite was flying his ultra-light airplanes.
A.J. was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, John McCormack and Thomas Seekatz.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Jayne Seekatz Bourquin of Mico; his children, Jennifer Bourquin (Lena Laxton) of Round Rock, Scott (Amanda) Bourquin of El Paso; 3 grandchildren, Briley, Kacey and Cameron; sister, Betty McCormack of Dallas; brother, Jim (Julie) Bourquin of San Antonio; in-laws, Charlotte (Larry) Burell of Castroville, Joan Seekatz of Mico; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation was held Monday, August 14, 2017 starting at 6:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with the Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection was held Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. A reception at the Braden Keller Center followed the Mass of the Resurrection. There will be a private entombment at a later date. Memorials may be made in A.J.’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.
