Alberto “Albert” Galan

Alberto “Albert” Galan, of Castroville, passed away on October 25, 2017 in San Antonio at the age of 67 years. He was born October 12, 1950 in Carrizo Springs, Texas to Enrique and Manuela Valdez Galan.
In 1968, he graduated from Carrizo Springs High School. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served his country for nine years during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he worked as a lab technician for Tesoro Refinery in Carrizo Springs. He received an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering from San Antonio College. Albert then took a job as a civil engineering inspector for Texas Department of Transportation. In March of this year, he retired from Civil Engineering Consultants in San Antonio.
On June 20, 1981, he married Consuelo “Connie” Torres in a ceremony at St. John Berchman Catholic Church in San Antonio. Albert and Connie were blessed with thirty-six years of marriage and two sons.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Galan of Castroville; sons, Christopher Galan and his wife Morgan of La Coste and Austin Galan of Castroville; grandson, Quentin Christopher Galan and sister, Diane Wilson and her husband Tim of Newcastle, Oklahoma; numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Sunday, October 29, 2017, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with the Holy Rosary recited at 6:00 pm. Mass of the Resurrection was Monday, October 30, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment will be at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with military honors.
