Growing up, Ruby lived in San Antonio, and then Laredo, TX, for a spell. She was a graduate of Jefferson High School in San Antonio and attended San Antonio College. Ruby met her future husband, Milton Stolte, in 1962. They always told each other that they “loved each other before they even met.” They married on Christmas Eve of 1964.
In her early career, in addition to being a farmer’s wife, Ruby was a Court Reporter at Lackland Air Force Base, and then later sold real estate. Ruby always played an active role in her community and daughters’ activities. Some of her roles included Vice President of the Medina Valley PTA, President of the South Texas Farm and Ranch Club, and softball coach. Ruby and Milton also supported the Helotes 4-H Club for 36 years.
Ruby was over the moon when grandkids came along. She was a wonderful Nana and spent time with them all as often as she possibly could. She loved to attend her grandkids’ events and cheer for them. Another favorite pastime of Ruby’s was to spend time with her family at Medina Lake, enjoying the sun and company.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at both Methodist Hospital and then Vitas Hospice for their care of Ruby.
