8th Grade Mustangs remain undefeated

The 8th Grade Mustangs were at home last Thursday to take on the Stockdale Brahmas. Natalia was able to remain undefeated on the season with a 26-6 victory over the Brahmas.
The Mustang defense took the field first and after forcing Stockdale to turn the ball over on downs the offense went to work. Paul Zapata was able to get the Mustangs on the board with a 5 yard touchdown run with 1:43 remaining in the first quarter. The 2 point conversion was no good but the Mustangs took a 6-0 lead in the game.
The defense forced a Stockdale punt early in the 2nd quarter. Paul Zapata fielded the punt and put the Mustangs in good position. Following a Zapata to Justin Curiel hookup in the pass game, Paul Zapata was able to bounce around and find his way to the end zone with 5:01 in the 2nd quarter. The 2 point conversion was good by Simon Garcia as the Mustangs took a 14-0 lead.
The defense was relentless all night long as they were able to force the Brahmas into another punt late in the 2nd quarter. Zapata fielded the punt and made a number of defenders missed as he raced to the end zone for a 70 yard punt return TD. Elias De Luna was not able to capitalize on the 2 point conversion but the Mustangs entered the half with a 20-0 lead.
The Mustangs took the 2nd half kickoff and marched down the field before Paul Zapata scored on a 25 yard TD run with 4:04 remaining in the 3rd quarter. The 2 point conversion was no good but the Mustangs took a commanding 26-0 lead.
The Brahmas offense was able to string together a good drive that resulted in their lone touchdown of the game with 2:21 left in the 3rd quarter. The 2 point conversion was no good as the Mustangs held on to a 26-6 lead.
Both defenses would play well through the rest of the game as the Mustangs held on for a 26-6 victory to improve to 4-0 on the season.
The Mustangs were led by Paul Zapata who scored all 4 touchdowns for the Mustangs. The O-line led by Gerardo Colchado paved the way for the rushing attack. The defense was led by a number of guys who were relentless all night long.
The Mustangs will be at home next week as the Dilley Wolves come to town.
