7th Grade Maroon Fillys face tough Carrizo team

Last Thursday, the 7th Grade Fillys traveled to Carrizo Springs. The Wildcats didn’t have a second team so only the Filly Maroon team played.
In the opening quarter, defense was the key. Both teams came out tough, allowing very few points. After the 1st quarter, the score was 3-2 Carrizo Springs. The Wildcats busted out offensively in the 2nd quarter and the half ended with them up 13-4.
In the 3rd quarter, it was more evenly played. Devine put up 6 points, but allowed 8 by Carrizo Springs, keeping the Fillys from being able to close the gap. At the end of the 3rd, it was 21-10.
The Fillys pushed hard in the 4th. a tough trapping defense led to a couple of quick baskets, but the gap was too large for them to close. The final score was 27-14 in favor of Carrizo Springs. The Fillys move to 3-2 at the end of the first round of district play. They will face Uvalde next Thursday in their last game before the holiday break.
