7th Grade Fillys take on Pearsall

Gold
The DMS Fillys Gold Team split sets with Pearsall last Thursday night, 15-25 and 26-24.
It was a constant battle between both teams to see which one could out-serve the other. Jaylynn Hernandez, Daniella Campos and Lilly Owen led in the serving category for the Fillys. The Fillys had a quick rest over the weekend before traveling to Carrizo Springs Monday evening to face the Wildcats.
Maroon
The Devine Fillys Maroon volleyball team headed into their third game of the season when Pearsall visited last Thursday evening. The Fillys have improved from game to game, and this game was proof of that as they took the victory in two sets 25-17 and 25-9.
Highlights for the Fillys were Kynedie Cruz and Mariana Urrea with 12 successful serves and two aces each. Also, Ivy Stricker, Gabby Mendez, Kynedie Cruz, Payton Applewhite and Emilee Martinez contributed solid passing and serve-receives. Brilee Carroll had two kills as well in this game, helping the Fillys move to 3-0 on the season.
“Both of these groups have improved so much in the last three weeks. They come to practice early every day and work hard on improving their skills. I am very proud of all they have been able to accomplish, and look forward to seeing continual improvement,” said Coach Oropeza.
The Fillys will travel to Carrizo Springs on Monday, looking to continue their winning streak.
