A game of keep away broke out in the first game of the Devine Colts football season. With each team taking a prolonged amount of time off the clock on each of their drives, the only team to crack the goal line was the Coyotes on their first drive of the game with 0:43 seconds left before halftime. Uvalde went on to defeat the Colts 7-0.
Devine converted a couple of fourth down opportunities on its first drive but could not punch it in. The Colts took the opening kickoff and kept the ball for the entirety of the first quarter and until 4:13 remained in the second quarter.
Uvalde returned the favor in the second half, eating up the entire third quarter clock before giving it back to Devine with approximately five minutes left in the game.
