Senior Jack Zimmerle will have one final event to close out his stellar four-year Warhorse athletic career that saw him compete in football, baseball, and track. Jack will be participating in Shot Put at the State Track Meet in Austin Friday evening at 6:00 pm. The meet is for all classifications and is held at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas. Zimmerle qualified for the meet by throwing a personal best 52’3” in Kingsville at the Regional Meet on April 25th.
Devin Rotramel is excited for the opportunity that Zimmerle has to get a gold medal at the State competition.
“Jack is a true technician on the event. His form is literally perfect with much of that due to his outstanding work ethic. He battled through many track meets throughout his career and I couldn’t be more proud of him getting one more shot to throw in his favorite event.”
As one would think, Jack is also thrilled about the opportunity in front of him.
“I am excited to compete against the best that 4A has to offer. I want to thank Coach Rotramel for coaching me all these years and I would like to thank my mom and dad as well as Todd Summers for their encouragement and support throughout my high school career.”
On Thursday, the high school student body and faculty will have a send-off for Jack and Stephanie Campos. Campos will be throwing the discus Friday morning at 10:00 am. They will depart from in front of the high school, heading to Austin at 2:00 pm. Those wanting to show their support are encouraged to be in attendance by 1:55 pm.
