Wanda Lou Geant Killingsworth

Loving wife, mother and grandmother, Wanda Lou Geant Killingsworth, of Spring Branch, Texas, passed away on May 6, 2018 in San Antonio at the age of 69 years. The only child of Albert Alvin Geant and Joyce Mae Tschirhart Geant, she was born June 14, 1948 in San Antonio.
After attending St. Louis Catholic School at 607 Madrid Street in Castroville, Wanda graduated from San Antonio’s McCollum High School in 1966 going on to attend college. On December 20, 1971, Wanda married George Edward Killingsworth in Grand Prairie, Texas. They were blessed with forty-seven years of marriage, two sons and four grandsons.
Trained in Jazz and ballet dance, Wanda was featured in several broadcast commercials for Big Red soda and was “a-go-go girl” on the KONO-TV broadcast “Swingtime.” In the Civil Service she trained Air Force logistics personnel in the use of punch-card computers, and later worked for the Fort Worth Star Telegram as an advertising copy editor.
Cheerful, endearing, and mischievously irreverent, Wanda was always a central figure in PTA functions and school fundraising events intending to broaden the public school education of her two sons and their classmates. Well known among her sons’ teachers and friends, many of them loved her and adopted her as their “Mama K.”
Wanda made many life-long friendships through her involvement in the local communities of Aurora and Evergreen, Colorado. She served as president of the Timbervale homeowners association in Evergreen, Colorado, where she oversaw improvements to the roads, landscaping, and other facilities on the common property surrounding the historic Hiwan Homestead. She ran a successful interior design studio in Evergreen, Colorado, often consulting for celebrity and executive clientele. Visitors to Wanda’s home were always struck by its warmth and hospitality. An avid mystery reader and anglophile, Wanda once visited friends in England where the IRA frustrated her shopping at Harrods by detonating a bomb as she came out of the underground.
Survivors include her husband, George Killingsworth of Spring Branch; sons and daughter-in-law, Kris Killingsworth of Spring Branch, Texas; Jeffrey and Danielle Killingsworth of Aurora, Colorado; grandsons, Hayden and Hudson Killingsworth (9 & 6), and Max and Mason Talich (15 & 10); along with many dear relatives native to Castroville. Her beloved parents preceded her in death.
Visitation began at 9:00 am on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, followed by a liturgy at 10:00 am. Services concluded with a nearby catered luncheon.
