Virginia Belle Gerard Kononchuk, of San Antonio, passed away at her son’s home in Castroville on January 13, 2020 at the age of 93. She was born December 6, 1926 in Butler, Pennsylvania to Jacob E. and Carrie Belle Toye Gerard.
Survivors include her children, Paul Kononchuk (Debra) of Castroville, Samuel Kononchuk II of Kyle and Deborah Wilson (Jerry, Sr.) of Castroville; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Kononchuk; daughters, Diana Lynn Kononchuk, Carrie “Rosie” Flores; son, Michael Stanley Kononchuk; great-grandson, Kristian Warren Sallee-Kononchuk; sister, Margaret Mary Gerard; brothers, Jacob E. Kononchuk, Jr., Richard P. Kononchuk and James R. Kononchuk.
Visitation will be Monday, January 27, 2020 starting at 9:30 am at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with the Funeral Service at 10:30 am. Visitation will continue after the Funeral Service until 1:30 pm when the Funeral Procession will depart for a Graveside Service at 2:30 pm at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
