VFW Post 3996 celebrates 50 years strong

On January 29, 2022, the Devine VFW Post 3966 celebrated half a century in our community.
The VFW is a safe haven for so many, including the veterans and their families, the community and so many more. They host various events for everyone in the surrounding areas such as the First Saturday Market, monthly Food Distribution, Bingo on Thursday nights and during the summer-fall time the Friday night food trucks, as well as hoping to continue more events this year.

The ceremony was a success greatly in part to the sponsors who gave to help the VFW be able to make this an event anyone could attend and enjoy. There were two different musical groups that were there to play, Thomas Jones in the courtyard and then DJ Mendez and the Solis Brothers inside after dusk. There were shirts, burgers and hotdogs given away because of the wonderful sponsorship that was received by the following companies and individuals: Herrera’s Income Tax Services, Alamo Truck Accessories, DDMickey’s Catering and Meal Prep, Sonny’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria, X-Treme Party Rentals, Community National Bank, Gary and Nancy Saathoff, Fisher Quality Home Improvement, South Texas Integrity LLC, Rick Chapa, Baldwin Photography, 888 Hair Salon, Lewis Stroud, Andrew Camplen, Lion’s Club, Stan O. Hulse and North Park Chevrolet. Your support and contribution were the heart of the success and gave pride to our day.
VFW Post 3966 goes above and beyond the call of duty, reaching out and interacting with all our community, it was a pleasure to be able to give back to those who helped make this event a true success. As Jesse Rodriguez the Post Commander stated, “Thank you to all the sponsors, comrades, volunteers and community. Half of a century is a long time for an organization to operate but the VFW IS STRONG and will overcome any obstacles to continue to support any veterans in need and help the community out in any way”. His persistence in aiding the community and its veterans has been astonishing to watch and very surreal. He leads the VFW to success through everything they do with a team of officers and members behind him.

“Over the 50 years of the VFW Post 3966 has been a pillar of support for Devine, Texas. Year after year, you have provided superb public service to others. You provide an invaluable network of service to those who have borne the battle, as well as their families and you advance the health and well-being of those who bear the burden of defending our nation and our way of life,” stated Fritz Mihelcic the Commander-in-Chief of the VFW, as the award was presented for the momentous occasion. Not only an honor, but a success and a privilege to have shared it with the community and those we share our stories with, as well as support and love.
“If you think about ways to make life better, happier, easier or more meaningful for military and veteran families, and our community, you’ll have examples of the many types of support the VFW is known for,” said Andrew Camplean (by Gary Saathoff). This momentous event should not just be thought of today but for all the future years to come. If there is ever a need, support, or aide that you need the VFW is here to help.
We look forward to celebrating with you again and having you join our upcoming events. Keep an eye out for flyers, posts on social media, and in the paper for all future events.
