Tid Bits

Are you ready for a glance into the activities of the Lytle Police last week? Here we go … Officers handled 60 service calls last week and conducted 52 traffic stops. Of those 52 stops, 23 resulted in a citation and 29 were warnings.
Officers made three arrests last week: #1 – A traffic stop for speeding on Main St. resulted in the arrest of a 31-year-old male who had an active warrant out of Waller Co. for D.W.I. #2 – A suspicious person call in the 14800 Blk. of Lytle-Somerset resulted in the arrest of a 43-year-old male for public intoxication. #3 – A traffic stop on Main St. resulted in the arrest of a 27-year-old female for D.W.I. and possession of a controlled substance. All three arrestees were booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail in Jourdanton.

There was only one (1) property crime reported last week! A complainant reported that her storage unit in 19200 Blk. of N. Somerset was broken into & approx. $100 worth of misc. items were stolen.
Join us on July 4th at John Lott Park for the city’s annual Independence Day Celebration (AKA “the fireworks show”). The event starts at 6 PM and the fireworks should go off around 9 PM. There will also be food trucks and a DJ. I heard the Lytle VFW Women’s Auxiliary is even going to be cooking and selling funnel cakes. The Lytle Little League will have their snack bar open as well (popcorn, nachos, etc.). There should be plenty of options both in variety and budget when it comes to grabbing a bite to eat or a snack. You can bring your cooler but please, no glass containers.
If you live in the city, please leave the fireworks to the professionals at the park; they are licensed, insured, and have a permit. Our city ordinances prohibit the discharge of fireworks in the city. To report illegal fireworks, it is best to call our dispatch (the Atascosa Co. Sheriff’s Office) and they will dispatch an officer. The number to call is 830-769-3434, Option #1. The good news is that if you get a ticket for fireworks it doesn’t count as points on your driving license, so they can’t raise your auto insurance rates. The bad news is that your auto insurance rates are going to go up anyway.
