Thomas Alfred Littleton

Thomas Alfred Littleton

Thomas Alfred Littleton went to be with the Lord, June 21, 2019, at his home in Devine, Texas. He was greeted in heaven by his one true love and soul mate, Joyce Glynn Mangum; their two children, Thomas Glynn and Kay Francis; and their great-grandson, Daniel Edward Hall. He was also reunited with his father and mother, Alfred Brown and Fannie Mae (Bowman) Littleton; and brother and sister-in-law, Eldon and Ruthell (Tilley) Littleton.
Born on August 25, 1916 in Devine, Texas, Tom grew up in the Devine area. He was a 1934 graduate of Devine High School and attended A&T University, Kingsville. In 1939, Tom married Joyce Mangum, who would be by his side until her passing in 2002. In 1944, he joined the US Navy and proudly served his country during WWII. Upon returning, he began his long career in the oil and gas industry, in which he was highly respected. After two retirements, he traveled the US extensively with Joyce and other family. Tom’s dedication to his country and family was undeniable, but more evident than anything was his love for Christ. His faithful service as a deacon at First Baptist Church for several decades, as well as his humble demeanor and demand for integrity, were all evidence of his unwavering faith and love for our Lord.
When Tom’s two eldest great-great-grandchildren, Trevor and Allyson, were promoted from Kindergarten, he promised them that he would be in attendance at their high school graduation. On May 31, 2019, he fulfilled that promise.
Tom is survived by his grandchildren Debra DuBose, Dawne Blair (Scott O’Neal), and Thomas G. Littleton; his four great-grandchildren, Jaclyn Hall-Smyth, James “Trey” (Aubrey) Miller, Prari Blair, and Duv (Casey Powell) Finkemeier; and his seven great-great-grandchildren, Trevor Smyth, Allyson Hall, Nathanial Miller, Brandon Hall, MaKaighlah Finkemeier, Trent Miller, Ryker Finkemeier, Kyra Powell, and Charlotte Powell.
The funeral service was held at 1:00 pm on Monday, June 24, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in Devine, with interment following in the Devine Evergreen Cemetery.
