Tennis takes 5th as a team

Competing against 11 other teams at the Corpus Christi Tuloso-Midway tournament, Devine finished 5th with a combined score of 217. “The only other 4A team that finished above us was Tuloso-Midway. We even beat Zapata, who eliminated us in team tennis in the fall. We are making very good progress and look forward to the upcoming tournaments,” said Coach Mark Feltner.

Kelsey Dishman won 3rd place in singles, finishing as the highest 4A competitor 4-1, 4-0, 2-4, 4-2, 10-8, 1-6, 0-6, 6-2, 6-2. Brianna Schaefer finished 13th in singles 0-4, 0-4, 0-4, 1-4, 4-1, 5-3, 0,4-1. Savanna Pequeno/Cameron English finished 6th in doubles 4-0, 4-0, 1-4, 2-4, 6-7(5-7), 6-2, 10-8, 2-6, 1-6. Joselyn Guajardo/Victoria Nunez finished 13th in doubles 4-0, 2-4, 10-3, 2-4, 1-4, 1-4, 2-4, 4-2, 5-3, 4-2, 4-0. Victor Schaefer finished 7th in singles 4-1, 5-3, 0-4, 0-4, 0-6, 1-6, 6-1, 6-3. Aidan Hildenbrand finished 15th in singles 5-4(7-1), 1-4, 10-8, 1-4, 1-4, 2-4, 3-5, 1-4, 2-4, 4-2, 5-4(7-4). Brian Schaefer/Johnathon Gelinas finished 7th in doubles 5-4(7-2), 4-2, 1-4, 3-5, 4-6, 0-6, 7-6(7-3), 6-1, Hector Garza/Damien Araujo finished 20th in doubles 1-4, 0-4, 2-4, 2-4, 4-0, 1-4, 7-10, Logan Davis/Oakley Malone finished 13th in mixed doubles 2-4, 0-4, 2-4, 4-1, 10-5, 5-4(7-6), 4-5(5-7), 10-8, Ruger Cote/Jordan Erxleben finished 16th in mixed 0-4, 1-4, 2-4, 2-4.
Some of the brackets had 32 participants in their draws.
This week is spring break but that is not stopping the tennis players. They will compete in the SA Blossom Tournament on March 18th.
