Summer programming @ the Driscoll Public Library begins May 31

The Driscoll Public Library has another summer packed with fun, free activities for kids of all ages!
Summer Reading Challenge
The Summer Reading Challenge kicks off on Friday, May 31, when reading logs are available to be picked up at the library. Up to eight completed reading logs of 300 minutes each may be turned in to the library in exchange for tickets for a prize raffle that will be held at the end of the summer. Readers can also earn gold, silver, and bronze medals for turning in logs. The last day to turn in logs is Friday, July 26.
Special guests
Magician Mike “Spikey Mikey” Cruz returns on Thursday, June 13 at 1:00 pm for another show filled with magic and reading fun. Happy Tails Entertainment is bringing exotic animals to visit for a game of Win, Lose, or Paw on Wednesday, June 26 at 2:00 pm.
A Universe of Stories
The theme of this year’s summer programming is A Universe of Stories. Special programming will be held on Wednesday, June 19, July 3, and July 10.
Movie Matinees
Movie Matinees return on Wednesday, June 5 with The Incredibles 2, followed by Pokemon: The Power of Us on June 12, Ralph Breaks the Internet on July 17, Mary Poppins Returns on July 24, and Small Foot on July 31. Movies are shown in the George S. Woods Community Center and begin promptly at 1:00 pm. A snack and drink for each child is provided by HEB.
Teen Library Club
Join the Teen Library Club’s meeting on Thursday, June 6 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm to have a say in special programming aimed at teens! Teen Movie Night is Thursday, June 20 and Thursday, July 18 at 4:00 pm. Teen Game Night is Thursday, June 27 and Thursday, July 25 from 5:00 pm to 6:20 pm. Teen programming is open to teens in 7th through 12th grade.
Other events
On Tuesdays, Preschool Story Time is held at 10:30 am, and Code Club is from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Lego Club is Wednesday, June 12 and Wednesday, July 10 at 4:30 pm. A new monthly Art Club open to all ages begins Monday, June 10 at 4:30 pm, and returns at the same time on Monday, July 8.
