Stephen Frank “Ute” Castiglione entered eternal rest on October 17, 2018 at his home in Castroville at the age of 68 years. He was born January 27, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas, one of five children of Vito “Vic” Fortunato Castiglione and Martha Jean Sanders Castiglione. In 1968, Ute graduated from Highlands High School and then received an Associate’s Degree from San Antonio College in 1970. Over the years, he worked at Straus Frank, Trinity University and then at USAA, retiring in 2005 after working there for 35 years. On June 6, 1970, he married Dianne Elaine Roper at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in San Antonio.
Ute was preceded in death by his father, Vito “Vic” Fortunato Castiglione; father-in-law, Charles William Roper; sister-in-law, Sue Farrell and brother-in-law, Arthur Arevalos.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne Castiglione of Castroville; children, Matthew (Jessica) Castiglione of Rio Medina and Jeannie (Stephen) Maney of Littleton, Colorado; mother, Martha Jean Castiglione of La Coste; grandchildren, Ashlynn Krueger, Kayleigh Krueger, Marin Castiglione, Morgan Castiglione and Katie Maney; siblings, Paul Alfred (Kathy) Castiglione of Horseshoe Bay, Kathy (Edgar) Dodson of La Coste, Anna Maria (Carla Rosas) Castiglione of San Antonio and Charles Farrell of San Antonio; mother-in-law, Betty Crooks of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Karen Arevalos of La Vernia as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 4, 2018 starting at 4:30 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life at 6:00 pm. Services will conclude at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Ute’s memory to the Humane Society of San Antonio or the charity of your choice.
