St. Matthias Episcopal Church is partnering with Project MEND for a Medical Equipment collection drive on Saturday, December 5 from 9 am – 12 pm. Items can be dropped off in the church parking lot located at 901 N. Teel Dr. Medical equipment in high demand includes: wheelchairs, rollators, tub transfer benches, power chairs, hearing aids, protheses and hospital beds.
Through their Medical Equipment Reuse Program, Project MEND takes in donations of gently used medical equipment, then repair, refurbish and sanitize it, and distribute it to Texans in need. Project MEND is honored to serve those who served our country. They assist Texas veterans (any person discharged from the armed forces of the United States) and their family members, including surviving spouses (widows/widowers) and dependents (spouses and dependent children), with refurbished medical equipment and other assistive technology items.
Items too large for drop-off, like a hospital bed, can be picked-up on Monday, December 7, by calling Project MEND 210-223-6363, option 3 and scheduling a pick-up. Please identify that you are participating in the December 5 Devine Drive hosted by St. Matthias.
As part of the efforts of Military Ministry in the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas, Devine was selected to be a rural test model for the initial collection drive with St. Matthias serving as host.
