Six arrested in counterfeit manufacturing raid

On 02/01/2018, after a couple weeks of a counterfeit currency investigation, the Medina County Sheriff’s Office along with the assistance of United States Secret Service South Texas Regional Task Force (Financial and Cyber Crimes), Hondo Police Department, Castroville Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety CID, Rangers, Aviation and Highway Patrol successfully executed a search warrant in the 200 block of CR 442, Hondo, Medina County, Texas.
Approximately $12,000 in counterfeit currency was seized along with the dismantling of a counterfeit manufacturing organization. Seven arrests were made and others are pending for Forgery (Counterfeiting) and Felon in Possession of Firearm. All cases will be filed with the State and possible Federal charges are pending. The partnership amongst these agencies was vital in the success of this operation and will continue to help with other investigations in the future.
