Schaefer makes ALL State Band for the 2nd year in a row

Devine Band student Brian Schaefer advanced to ALL State for the second year in a row. He is pictured at last year’s concert at the TMEA Convention with Directors Tom Settles and Jeff Miller.

This past Saturday the virtual Area Band auditions were judged for an opportunity to earn a chair in the Texas 4A All-State Band. The Warhorse Band has once again, for the third year in a row, placed a student in this elite ensemble!
Brian Schaefer, a junior, scored 1st chair on Trumpet in the Area South auditions which stretches all the way to the Valley!! Out of (30) trumpet players who had advanced from All-Region, only the top (4) trumpets advance to All-State – so his audition was OUTSTANDING!! This is Brian’s SECOND year in a row to place in the All-State Band having advanced as a sophomore last year!
All together the Warhorse Band had (9) students who had advanced to Area, and ALL placed very high!!
The 4A All-State Band is slated to gather in Melissa ISD from June 9-12th where they will hold a clinic and present a concert in the Melissa ISD Performing Arts Center Auditorium on June 12th.
