Ruben R. Gonzales, Sr.

Ruben R. Gonzales, Sr.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ruben R. Gonzales, Sr. of Green Bay, WI, on Friday, January 15, 2021, at Bornemann’s Assisted Living Facility. Ruben was born August 14, 1945, in Devine, TX, to the late Maria and Dionicio Gonzales. He married Evangelina Sanchez on April 8th, 1967, at St. Joseph’s church in Devine, TX. Ruben proudly served his country with the United States Army National Guard from 1965-1971.
Ruben retired from Packerland Packing after 32 years of service. He was a quiet and kind gentleman with a big heart who was a passionate Packers fan, an avid hunter and a great auto mechanic, there is no telling the number of vehicles he fixed for family and friends over the years. He always put others before himself and would do anything for anyone. He greatly enjoyed all the time he got to spend with his grandchildren. He dealt with many health issues over the last several years, but you would never know it because he was always in good spirits and stayed strong for the sake of his wife, Eva, who was his everything, as well as his family. Ruben was one of the greatest storytellers and would talk your ear off if you let him.
Ruben is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 54 years Eva Gonzales; his children, Ruben Gonzales, Jr. of Green Bay, WI, Rudy (Tanya) Gonzales of Rockwall, TX, Ronnie Gonzales of El Paso, TX, Laura (Scott) Bosacki of Green Bay, WI, Ricky (Bonnie) Gonzales of Green Bay, WI, and Angie Wesner of Berlin, WI; brothers, Dionicio Jr. Gonzales, Johnny Gonzales; sisters, Francis Sanchez and Gloria Reyna, all from Texas. Ruben was the proud grandfather to Jeremy, Brett, Rudy Jr., Brandon, Brianna, Alyssa, Ronnie Jr., Maria, Ricky Jr., Jameson, Amelia, Brady, Angelina, Bentley and great-grandfather to Jaxon, Hendrix, and Jasiah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maria and Dionicio Gonzales, nephew Noel Sanchez and daughter-in-law Tami Gonzales.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, 209 S. Adams St., at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2021, with Rev. John MacCarthy officiating. The funeral event will be livestreamed and will be available on the Proko-Wall Funeral Home Facebook page. Full Military Honors will follow Mass. Visitation will continue from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at the church. The family does ask that the public wear masks and follow safe social distancing practices.
