Rose Mary Artero Rogers

Rose Mary Artero Rogers, of San Antonio, passed away on December 30, 2019 at her home at the age of 88 years. She was born March 20, 1931 on the Murphy Ranch in McFaddin, Victoria County, Texas to Candido Artero and Maria Ybarbo Artero.
Survivors include her husband, F. H. Rogers, Sr. of San Antonio; sons, Gerard J. (Sharon) Rogers of Castroville, Francis H. (Kimberly) Rogers II of San Antonio and Candid W. Rogers of San Antonio; grandchildren, Michelle Rogers Young, Jason Rogers, Francis Rogers, III, Victoria Rogers Foster and Katelynn Rogers; five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Artero and a great-granddaughter.
As she was growing up, Rose worked at her father’s funeral home in Victoria. After graduating from Victoria High School, she earned her funeral director’s license and worked there both as a funeral director and bookkeeper. Rose later made a career change and moved to San Antonio. She took a job at Kelly Air Force Base in Civil Service as a Purchasing Planner and Analyst, retiring after twenty-five years of service.
Rose had always wanted to continue her education and attend college. While working full time and caring for her family, she enrolled at Southwest Texas State University.She commuted to her classes in San Marcos and graduated with a BS in Applied Arts and Sciences. She never missed an opportunity to remind her family that she went to college late in life, and stress to them that it is never too late to follow your dreams.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 5, 2020 starting at 5:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with the Holy Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be Monday, January 6, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, 1306 Angelo Street, Castroville, Texas. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian, 116224 Culebra Road, San Antonio, Texas. Services will conclude at the cemetery.
