Robert Louis Hutzler

Robert Louis Hutzler, of La Coste, passed away on February 7, 2021 at the age of 90. He was born February 24, 1930 in La Coste, Texas to Wilford J. Hutzler, Sr. and Ruby Louise Mann Hutzler.
Robert graduated from La Coste High School in 1948. After graduating, he joined the United States Army and served for two years during the Korean War.
On October 9, 1954, Robert married Annie Bendele at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Devine, Texas. This past October, Robert and Annie celebrated their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary.
Robert worked at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio for thirty years. He was a member of the La Coste Lions Volunteer Fire Department, served as a councilman with the City of La Coste and was a former Medina Valley ISD school board member. He was also the First Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and a member of the Medina Valley VFW Post 8134.
In 1995, the Castroville Chamber of Commerce awarded Robert with the Volunteer Fireman of the Year Award. He was also a member of Hermann Sons and was awarded the Hermann Sons Humanitarian Award in 2004.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Hutzler of La Coste; children, Douglas Hutzler (Beverly Gail) of Castroville, Beverly Keller (Charley) of La Coste, Cynthia Tschirhart of Castroville, Lawrence Hutzler of San Antonio and Bonnie Tschirhart (Wade) of La Coste; grandchildren, Tracie White (Chris), Tammie Crisp (Lee), Tonie Hutzler, Benjamin Keller, Dustin Keller (Brittany), Crystal Keller, Matthew Tschirhart, Cody Tschirhart, Garrett Tschirhart and Haley Tschirhart; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Carolyn Muennink of Devine, Gerald Hutzler of New Braunfels and Elizabeth Bendele of Devine; in-laws, Levi Bendele (Deborah) of Golden, Colorado.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Wilford Sr. and Ruby Hutzler; son-in-law, Gerald Tschirhart; brother, Wilford (Martha) Hutzler, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Leo Bendele, Louis (Esther) Bendele; sisters-in-law, Alma Hutzler, Viola (Leslie) Hoover, Lillian (Wilkes) Martin.
Public Visitation was Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. The Rosary and Mass of the Resurrection was held on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Interment followed at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery in La Coste, Texas.
