Phillip Frank Eggleston of Devine, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, at the age of 86.
Born on January 1, 1939, in Sanderson, Texas, Phillip was the son of Eliza Lee Eggleston and Vada Ellen Summers Eggleston. On December 21, 1962, he married the love of his life, Martha Harrington, in their hometown of Sanderson.
Phillip dedicated over 40 years of service to the railroad industry before retiring in Devine. He was a hardworking man known for his quiet strength, loyalty, and deep love for his family. Those who knew him well will miss the many stories he loved to share. According to his brother George, Phillip was the best big brother anyone could ask for—always kind, steady, and full of wisdom.
He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Ward Lee Eggleston, and his cherished granddaughter, Daphne Bree Garcia.
Phillip is survived by his devoted wife, Martha Eggleston; his daughter, Phylis Garcia of Devine, Texas; his brother, George Eggleston and wife Ethel of Natalia, Texas; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Biry Hermann Sons Lodge Building, located at 111B S. Teel Ave., Devine, Texas. A luncheon will follow the service.
