Natalia schools announce closures through April 3rd

As a result of the continued monitoring and developments related to the proactive measures recommended by our local, state, and federal officials to minimize and contain the spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), and in the collective agreement with other public school districts in our surrounding area, Natalia ISD will remained closed until April 3rd.
This cautionary action is necessary given the declaration of a public health emergency by the City of San Antonio, the City of Natalia and the recommendation from the Center for Disease Control for social distancing for groups larger than 10 individuals at a time.
Please be aware that we do not make this decision lightly. Closing schools presents difficulties for parents and guardians, but we are following guidance from authorities who indicate these measures will better ensure the long-term health and safety of children, staff, and the larger community.
Additionally at this time, please be aware of the following:
• Our Child Nutrition Department will continued to serve meals during the time the district is closed.
• Natalia ISD is committed to providing a robust learning experience for our students, both through online and paper platforms. We are actively working to provide information and opportunities for teachers and students to stay safely connected through distance learning and online resources. Academic Packets are being designed to provide a review and an extension of learning assignments, and also keep students engaged and follow a daily instructional routine. Plans and guidance will be provided by Friday, March 20th.
• We will also take this time to further clean schools and buses and resupply custodial and nursing supplies.
• As per the guidance of the Texas Education Agency, we do not anticipate having to extend the school year as a result of this pandemic-level event and subsequent school closures.
Please continue to check www.nataliaisd.net as well as our social media for future updates.
