Jones BBQ and Foot Massage

“A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs. It’s jolted by every pebble on the road.”

Henry Ward Beecher

If you like to laugh, you need to meet Toby Jones, urban entrepreneur. WARNING -those without a sense of humor should stop reading now.
Toby is an interesting guy. Involved with many creative business interests, here is his personal bio - copied word for word from one of his many enterprising websites.
“Tobias R. Jones, ‘Toby’, grew up idolizing his favorite hood rapper Pokey Da Hot Spitta. He followed his idol’s life and gained employment as a Street Pharmaceutical Sales Rep in 2003. Toby held that job for a year before he saw his Distribution Manager get shot. Toby realized that the street life was not for him and wanted to become an MC. He entered a contest to try to get his lyrics heard on 88.5 WHKP. Toby won the contest but never got his lyrics published. He became a roadie for a rap group The Famous Boys, all the while trying to make a name for himself with other artists. While on the road, Toby learned about real estate auctions and decided to return home to try out yet another line of work. He found a large warehouse on the south side that was going up for auction the next week. Toby was able to buy that warehouse for $1.00.” And thus, Toby’s entrepreneurial pursuits began.
Toby’s first business was Jones Big Ass Truck Rental and Storage. He is also responsible for Jones Cheap Ass Prepaid Legal and Daycare Academy. He is most famous however for Jones Good Ass BBQ and Foot Massage.
Jones Good Ass BBQ and Foot Massage is obviously a fictitious business, but the video ad starring Toby Jones is arguably one of the greatest low-budget commercials ever created. To date it has garnered over 15 million views on YouTube. The video is an intentional parody of a hard-sell low-budget commercial that you might find on a local cable TV station. Toby Jones is portrayed by comedian and actor Robert L. Hines, and is the creation of Pedro and Romero Castro, core members of the Big Dog Eat Child sketch comedy group.
The Castro brothers had previously created a parody cereal commercial for YouTube, but another idea was percolating in their heads. They just needed

Did you know that the US has more than 200,000 troops deployed overseas?

By Kayleen Holder and Catherine Richard
Did you know that the US has more than 200,000 air, ground, and naval personnel deployed overseas? Key areas of deployment include approximately 5,000 in Africa, approximately 100,000 in Europe, approximately 10-15,000 in Southwest Asia, and more than 80,000 in East Asia (2024), according to the CIA’s World Fact Book which can be accessed online.
The World Factbook defines “deployed” as a permanently stationed force or a temporary deployment of greater than six months. Paramilitaries, police, contractors, mercenaries, proxy forces, and deployments smaller than 100 personnel are not included in these figures. The numbers provided are estimates.
With the 23rd anniversary of 9/11 and the beginning of the War on Terror having just passed and with the approach of Veteran’s Day, Americans can take this time of remembrance and support the service members that are currently serving their country.
There are a few programs in place designed to bring encouragement to deployed service members. Some organizations offer letter-writing programs, where personal letters can be sent in care packages to service members. Other organizations take donations and send out packages to either specific individuals or to an unspecified unit that requests them. Listed below are a few of these organizations.

If you have donations and can’t drop them off, they can possibly pick them up as well.   They will be leaving Monday, October 7th.   Any monetary donations can be made out to the Medina County Brown Santa program.

Freshman Arabian volleyball rockin’ it as they slam Poth/ Somerset

Arabians Gigi Madrid, Greeley Malone, Mackenzie Hennessey, Maddy Hester, Sydney Solis, Aaliyah Moralez, Addison DuBose, Kenzie Ray, and Leann Guemes get excited after a block by A’Dell Holder.

Jerel Beaty
Staff writer
Devine picked up a couple more wins last week as they defeated the Lady Pirates in Poth in two sets prior to returning to District 29-4A action to win a dog-fight against Somerset in three sets.
The Arabians were set to face Pearsall on press night to move to 5-0 in district standings and now prepare to take on possibly their biggest challenge as they face Floresville Friday night in Devine.
vs Poth
“We kind of struggled to get things going in the first set with many unforced errors due to little communication,” Coach Kara Stacy stated about her squad being down 17-11 before turning it around to win 26-24. “Finding a way to come back and fight for every single point the girls managed to pull off an intense comeback win.”
With all the energy now clearly on the Arabians side of the net, the second set was never in doubt as Devine took the set 25-11 and the match 2-0.
“Carrying the first set momentum into the second set made for a much quicker and clean set of volleyball.”
“After putting ourselves in an unnecessary position the girls did a great job fighting for the win in this game!”
vs Somerset
A three-set barnburner against the Lady Bulldogs is not what the Arabians originally had in mind, but they came out victorious and better after the battle.
“We had a solid start, coming out with good intensity and were ready to play.”
Devine won set one 25-15 and carried over a great…
