Mustangs beat Harper, now 2-3

After four games last week, the Mustangs are now 2-3 for the season and after facing Stockdale last night, they have just one more tournament before district starts on December 14th against Lytle. Lytle is currently #15 in the 3A class according to TABC.
Tuesday night at home the Mustangs beat Harper 43-38. Starting off strong, they outscored Harper 14-9 in the first and then the game got sluggish. Both teams slowed down and the score didn’t change much. It all picked back up in the final quarter when Natalia out shot Harper 15-14 for the 43-38 win. Joshua San Miguel and Jaieden Burford led with 15 points each.
At the Karnes City Tournament, Natalia was ready to play hard but hit a wall when they opened against Luling. Manuel Garcia led with 8 points, Burford 6, and San Miguel 5 points, but it was not nearly enough to overcome the 23-53 deficit at the end.
Charlotte may have had the lead at the half at 22-19, but Natalia came out hard in the third and out shot them 19-5 to take the lead at 38-27. The Trojans tried to come back but fell short at 39-46 for the Mustang win.
San Miguel had 16 points, Burford 10, Paul Zapata 6, David Silva 6, and Joseph Gonzales had 6 points.
In their final game of the tournament, Natalia fell to Brooks Academy 36-61. Brooks was tough offensively and defensively but Natalia found their cracks and made drives to the basket. Despite the loss, Natalia won the fourth quarter when they out shot Brooks 10-6. Silva lead with 13 points, San Miguel 7, and Burford had 5 points.
