Msgt. Valdemar “Jerry” Castillo Jaramillo

August 24, 1934 – January 8, 2024

We are sad to announce the passing of our beloved father (retired) MSGT Valdemar “Jerry” Castillo Jaramillo. Dad went to be with our Lord on January 8, 2024, at the age of 89 years old. He was born in Devine, Texas, the son of Francisco Del-Puig Jaramillo and Angelita Castillo Jaramillo. Valdemar was married to Gloria Medina Jaramillo for 37 years and had three children, Valdemar Castillo Jaramillo, Jr., Jesse Edward Jaramillo, and Diane Jaramillo Juarez. Valdemar remarried on September 2, 1997, to Gloria Chapa Kaiser from Devine, Texas, they were married for 27 years.


Valdemar was in the United States Air Force for 20 years. Valdemar served his country with pride and honor. Dad always said, “Aim High”. Valdemar served in Indochina, Korea, Okinawa, Vietnam and the Philippines, receiving numerous medals and awards. Dad was so proud to serve our country. Valdemar graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 1982 and earned a master’s degree in criminal justice. Valdemar was also a lifetime member of the VFW in Devine, Texas and a member of the San Antonio Police Department Association.
Valdemar is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco Del-Puig Jaramillo and Angelita Castillo Jaramillo; Late wife, Gloria Medina Jaramillo; Daughter, Diane Jaramillo Juarez; Brothers, Frank Jaramillo, Jr. and Raymond Jaramillo; Daughter in law, Gina Kaiser; Son in law, Eloy Juarez; Brothers in law, Jesse Pacheco and Pete Salinas; Sister in law, Lamer Jaramillo.
Valdemar is survived by his wife, Gloria Chapa Kaiser; Children, Valdemar Castillo Jaramillo, Jr. (Jane), Jesse Edward Jaramillo (LeAnn), Eddie Kaiser, Laura Kaiser Olivarri (William), Rebecca Kaiser Pierro (Chris), Matthew Kaiser (Melissa) and James Kaiser (Debbie); Siblings, Elisa Jaramillo Salinas, Susie Jaramillo Dandridge (John), Alma Jaramillo Sepulveda (Eddie), Arnulfo Jaramillo, Arturo Jaramillo (Modesta), and Lupe Jaramillo (Norma); Brother in law, Mario Chapa (Silvia); Sister in law, Belinda Chapa Pacheco; Numerous nieces and nephews; Grandchildren and great-grandchildren which he loved dearly with all of his heart.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., Monday, February 12, 2024, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
Rosary will be held Monday, February 12, 2024 at 6:00 P.M. at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Avenue, San Antonio, TX 78212. Mass will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 9:30A.M. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 350 Sutton Rd, San Antonio.
Pallbearers will be Val Jaramillo Jr., Frank Jaramillo, Jesse Jaramillo Jr., Mark Jaramillo, Eddie Kaiser, and James Kaiser. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
