Margaret Ann Rothe Golden was received into heaven on October 26, 2018 at the age of 88 years. Margaret Ann was born on March 9, 1930 on the ranch of her father and mother, Eric and Cora (Finger) Rothe.
Growing up in D’Hanis, Margaret Ann and her family attended Holy Cross Catholic Church. She graduated from D’Hanis High School and attended Incarnate Word College in San Antonio.
On June 7, 1949, Margaret married Robert “Bob” Golden. Four children blessed this union which lasted 58 years, until Bob’s passing on October 21, 2007.
Margaret Ann was first a daughter, sister, and cousin, then a wife, mother, aunt, grandma and great-grandma. She was so proud of every one of those titles. Her faith, family, her roots and her home were Margaret Ann’s life. Margaret Ann loved many things. She loved her family and the times they spent together. She loved the games of Rook and Bridge. She especially loved playing Bridge, and made many friends over the years while playing the card game. Those friendships were valued dearly. She loved Easter in D’Hanis and the beautiful bluebonnets that graced the landscape in the Spring. Margaret Ann loved the Dallas Cowboys, Nebraska Cornhuskers, TCU and of course, Texas A&M.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert “Bob” Golden; sons, Warren Golden and Ray (Cindy) Golden; brothers and their spouses, Lawrence (Dorothy) Rothe, Howard (Lillian) Rothe and Joe W. “Billy” Rothe; and brother-in-law, Wayne Cheney.
Survivors include her daughters, Cathy Golden of Ft. Worth, Carol (Joel) Hargens of Hooper, NE; daughter-in-law, Andie Golden of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Julie Lee of Ft. Worth, Lee (Brenda)Nelson of Windsor, CO, Carri (Charles) Tipay of Dallas, Joanna Hooker of Augusta, GA, Mary Jo(BJ) Reynolds of Hooper, NE, Jennie Lynn (Christopher) Vaughn of GA, Lyndsey Golden, Amber Golden, and Ruth (Jason) Horvatich all of Omaha, NE; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Bobby (Norma) Rothe of D’Hanis; sister, Dorothy Cheney of D’Hanis; and sister-in-law, Rosie Rothe of D’Hanis. Numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018, beginning at 9:30 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church. The Holy Rosary will be recited that morning at 10:30 am, followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment will be at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
