Man charged in fatal stabbing

Hondo, Texas, July 21, 2021 On Sunday, July 18, 2021 shortly after 1:30 am, Hondo Police Officers were dispatched to Cheers and Beers, a local bar located in the 1700 block of Avenue M, for a report of a physical disturbance. While Officers were en route to the location, they were advised that a subject had been stabbed on location. Officers made location and observed several subjects on the ground tending to a male victim.
Officers immediately began to administer first aid and advised to have Community EMS make location. Officers began to assess the situation and identified the victim as Roger Palacios, Jr. (59) of Hondo. Palacios was transported to Medina Regional Hospital. Medina County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived in Hondo and were able to assist with multiple scenes as Officers began to canvas the area for the suspect, a 49-year-old male subject of Hondo. Officers determined the subject may be at his residence and Sheriff’s Deputies were able to respond to the residence and were able to take him into custody after deployment of a less than lethal device.
The Hondo Police Department Criminal Investigation Division and Administration Division was contacted and responded to the multiple scenes. Palacios did succumb to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at Medina Regional Hospital from his injuries. Justice of the Peace Celeste Brown was contacted to make location for the death. An autopsy was requested by Hondo Police Investigators. Upon several interviews and processing of the scene, the suspect was placed under arrest and booked into the Medina County Jail on the charge of Murder.
This case is still ongoing and no further information can be released at this time.
