Leukemia cancer benefit for Nathan Grissom planned Nov. 9

Nathan Grissom and his wife Sharon will be the recipients of a benefit to assist them in paying their medical expenses for his Leukemia cancer treatment. Family and friends are hosting the event.
Sharon Grissom attended school in Devine and is the daughter of Patsy Allen and the late Jimmie Allen. She is also the sister of Connie Broderick.
Nathan was diagnosed with A.L.L. Leukemia on May 31st and has been in and out of the hospital for treatment since then. On his third treatment, he spent a week and a half in the hospital. The couple has two boys in school. Nathan will continue treatment for three more months and then be a Chemotherapy out-patient for an additional two years.
The benefit will be held at the American Legion Hall in Castroville at 1305 Fiorella Street on November 9th from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. They will be selling a BBQ brisket plate with rice, beans and potato salad for $10 with pick-up/dine-in beginning at 11 a.m. There will also be a silent auction, a 50/50 drawing, a Corn Hole Tournament and a craft show. The Auction opens at noon. The Corn Hole Tournament begins at 3 p.m., $20 per two person team and the winning team gets half the pot!
