Holding on to 3rd place at 6-4, the Lady Pirates are closely chased by Dilley at 5-5. This past Monday, the two teams faced in Lytle and in their first meeting this year, the Lady Pirates took the win at 4-2. Another win would help seal their playoff spot. Poth continues their undefeated run in district and Jourdanton is right behind at 8-1.
Taking on Cotulla last Tuesday night, the Lady Pirates had to work hard in extra innings for the 16-11 win! Up 9-5 after the end of the 4th. After Lytle earned 1 run in the top of the 5th, the Cowgirls rallied and brought home 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th to tie the game up 10-10. Determined to keep in the game, Lytle added a run in the top of the 6th and were up 11-10 until the bottom of the 7th when Cotulla brought a run in to tie the game 11-11 after the 7 innings. Coach Tammie Tilley and her team pulled out all the stops in the top of the 8th to earn five runs and the 16-11 win!
Moriah Gomez pitched all 8 innings with 26 first pitch strikes and 7 strikeouts! She also earned 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Calyssa Sevier had 5 hits. Eliza Molina earned 4 hits and 3 RBIs. Alyssa Montalvo had 2 walks and 3 RBIs. Cece Martinez also had 1 walk. The team had a total of 23 hits and 10 errors.
Friday night in Lytle, the Lady Pirates took down Natalia 5-1. Playing seven innings, Gomez threw 11 first pitch strikes and 3 strikeouts. Scoreless threw the first two innings, Lytle opened up the score board with 3 runs in the 3rd. Top of the 6th, Natalia put a run on the board, but Lytle answered with 2 more runs and ended the game up 5-1.
Montalvo earned 2 hits. Gomez had 1 walk and 2 RBIs. N. Pacheco earned 1 RBI.
This Thursday, April 14 the Lady Pirates will play in Poteet and then on Tuesday they will be in Karnes City. Their last district game will be at home on April 22nd against Jourdanton.
